Out of the Abyss is a 5e survival horror, grimdark campaign based on exploration and survival, deep within the Underdark, a vast underground world filled with demons and ancient secrets.
Players begin as prisoners in a drow (dark elves) outpost and must escape from the prison into the Underdark, one of the most dangerous environments in the Forgotten Realms. Gradually, trying to survive, they uncover a demonic invasion that is spreading unchecked and leaving destruction and madness in its wake.
As the story progresses, survival in the Underdark turns into a battle that threatens to open the gates of the Abyss, threatening even the world above. If players manage to find their way to the surface, they must decide whether to risk descending back again into the depths of the earth to stop this threat.
